Citywide 6th grade S.T.E.A.M. Project Showcase

EvanSTEM Evanston-Skokie School District 65

This spring, all District 65 sixth graders will be tackling Evanston’s most pressing environmental issues in their science classes. Choosing a topic from the City of Evanston’s Climate Action & Resilience Plan (CARP), students will use a design thinking model to explore how to best mitigate the impact of climate change. Students will investigate the topic and its root causes, prototype and test their ideas, and present their solution at a citywide project showcase at ETHS on May 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM (attended by the Mayor). Student-centered topics aligned to the CARP plan are:

-- waste (food, water, electronics, packaging, demolition or auto)

-- excessive heat

--stormwater runoff

-- invasive species and pests

Families are welcome to attend to learn from and be inspired by the creative ingenuity of our Evanston sixth graders. #RemakeDaysChi
