Girls Build! Sustainable Structures - Spring 2017

Chicago Architecture Foundation

The Girls Build program is designed specifically for middle school girls from Chicago Public Schools, ages 11-14, and combines STEM skills and leadership development, while enabling and encouraging girls to explore the professions of architecture, construction, engineering and design.   During this 8-week class girls will meet females in the profession and visit LEED certified buildings in the Loop to learn about sustainability to inspire their own designs. Participants will learn sketching, model making, landscape design and digital design. They will also have the opportunity to visit architecture and design firms that specialize in sustainable building, where they will work alongside female professionals. Each program will culminate in a final showcase in which girls present their own sustainable structure to family and friends.
