Look for birds in your neighborhood to help scientists understand the value of green spaces for birds. Look for birds in your neighborhood and share your data with ornithologists (scientists who study birds).
Celebrate Urban Birds is a citizen science project from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology focused on better understanding the value of green spaces for birds.
Watch birds for ten minutes and share your observations for scientific study. Watch anywhere: in a parking lot, a local Park, balcony, at work, or at school. Then report the birds you saw by mail or online. It’s easy!
1. Sign up for the Urban Bird Count.
2. Then use this datasheet to get started.
To earn your badge for this activity, show evidence of two completed observations, either a completed datasheet that you have taken a picture of or a screenshot of your Urban Birds Citizen Science profile showing your observation.
Badge is earned by:
*(1) Submitting evidence of a completed observation
*(2) telling us about your observations: (a) Where did you look for birds? (b) What did you see? (c) What surprised you?
